Mayor Makes a Morning Tea Pit Stop
Residents at our Mandurah village love a morning tea, and this month they were treated to a special guest appearance by the Mayor of Mandurah, Rhys Williams. It was a great way to spice up the monthly morning tea hosted by Village Manager, Jill. Residents settled into their seats in the Clubhouse with their tea and treat, ready to catch up on what’s coming up this month and also find out more about their new Mayor.
The Mayor was elected in October 2017 and visited the village to introduce himself, and also share his background with the residents. The residents had a lot of questions for the Mayor, eager to learn more about the 2015 Young West Australian of the Year.
Having heard the Mayor speak briefly at the recent opening of the Joseph and Dulcie Nannup Trail and new boardwalk on the 8th February, residents were ready to have a more focused conversation and also their chance to ask questions that had been burning a hole in their pockets. The atmosphere in the Clubhouse was exciting as discussions about positively affecting social change and bringing the community together filled the air.
The residents agreed he was a breath of fresh air and are looking forward to their next opportunity to speak with the Mayor. He too is excited to return to our Mandurah village for the next morning tea or special event – which, considering the busy social calendar at this village could be any day of the week!
Rita Willsdon-Jones was on hand with her camera ready to capture the moment – thank you for the photographs Rita.
