Hoe-Down Transforms Mandurah
Always ready for a party, particularly a themed one, our Mandurah residents pulled on their best cowboy outfit and boot-scooted their way to the Clubhouse for a Hoe-Down.
The Clubhouse was transformed into something straight out of a Wild West movie with hay bales scattered everywhere (we wonder who had to clean that up!!), more cowboy hats than people and music that got everyone up on their feet.
MC Jill Cooper had everyone in stitches just moments after picking up the mic and continued to throw joke after joke out for the rest of the evening. No Hoe-down would be complete without some line dancing! Waiting nervously behind the door was the dancing troop, who admitted that while they’d been practicing a lot had yet to get the dance right. They needed worry: they nailed it and were a smashing success!
All it took to send fear across the audience were the words ‘randomly select audience members to learn a dance’. As soon as the words were spoken, there was a sudden flurry of movement as residents all needed to go to the bathroom at the same time. But, our line dancers were too swift for them and managed to grab their victims regardless of where they hid – even one of the St Ives staff members got roped in!
After some hilarious dance attempts, we tucked into a delicious meal prepared by the Committee. The lamb had been roasting outside on the spit all day and we were all eager to have our turn at the buffet table.
Once the food was served, the rest of the evening’s entertainment began to roll out with some lovely music from residents, plenty more jokes from Jill and lots of dancing.
The Hoe-Down sparks the first of the Spring at St Ives events across our Villages from September to November. Sponsored by St Ives, these events are the talk of the Villages at the moment. Stay tuned for details on the next events!
